I am pretty excited to share some news!
Early last week I was invited to demonstrate my work and give a class at the American Craft Council show in Atlanta. I am very honored to have been asked!
'As the leading voice for craft in America, the American Craft Council is dedicated to promoting understanding and appreciation of contemporary American craft. We are committed to developing vital education programs that elevate, expand, modernize and enhance the image of craft today.'
The ACC publishes American Craft Magazine and puts on four national shows each year. It is a bit out of our 'indie craft' range, but I think it will present some new opportunities for us and maybe introduce a few people to the value of non-traditional craft.
Soooo...at the Cobb Galleria Centre on Saturday, March 12 at 11am, I will be demonstrating the creation of a plush animal pillow from start to finish and discussing the process of upcycling our materials. Then at 12pm, I will offer a hands-on embroidery project. It will be geared toward kids and Mars will be there to help! We will work to create a simple design on a drawstring bag.
BIG NEWS part deux!
The cherry on top of my week was being invited to help jury the next Crafty Feast in Columbia on April 16 during the Indie Grits Film Festival!
It is going to be a pretty amazing event...there will be kids bands, a marionette show, a bike valet, live art, a sewing class and movies at The Nick all day. The evening will wrap with a Toro y Moi performance. If you are a fellow crafter you can apply until Feb. 11 HERE...no application fee!
